iCube Renewables S.r.l. (“iCube”), the joint venture between Iberdrola Renovables Italia S.p.A. (“Iberdrola Italia”) and Innovo Renewables S.p.A. (“Innovo Renewables”), has renewed its collaboration with the Sopowerful Foundation, reaffirming its commitment to development cooperation initiatives aimed at ensuring access to electricity in areas affected by economic and infrastructure fragility.

Sopowerful is the Dutch non-profit founded in 2019 by Stefano Cruccu with the goal of developing renewable electrification projects in contexts where access to electricity remains limited. With more than 40 projects completed, ranging from 3 kWp to over 200 kWp and delivered together with local installers, Sopowerful’s initiatives impact around 500,000 people every year in vulnerable communities, creating concrete and sustainable development opportunities in healthcare, education, water access and food security.

The partnership with iCube focuses on supporting sustainable electrification projects in countries such as Malawi and Tanzania through the construction of solar energy systems for communities without stable access to electricity.

In addition to annual financial support, the collaboration with Sopowerful includes the direct involvement of iCube employees, who voluntarily participate in the Foundation’s activities by contributing time and resources to support the initiative and help implement projects on the ground.

The renewal of the partnership, first signed in 2024, confirms the willingness of iCube and its partners to continue along a shared path that combines innovation, sustainability and social impact.

“Projects like this show how the energy transition can generate not only environmental value but also social value,” said Valerio Faccenda, Country Manager of Iberdrola Italia. “Supporting access to energy in disadvantaged areas means helping create the conditions for more equitable and inclusive development. We are proud to support an organisation like Sopowerful, which concretely reflects the principles behind our work.”

“Personally visiting the projects in Malawi last year allowed me to witness first-hand the concrete impact these initiatives have on local communities,” commented Rodolfo Bigolin, CEO of Innovo Renewables. “Access to energy, when created with the right and sustainable approach, is a fundamental enabling factor for social and economic development. That is why we continue to strongly support this partnership, providing expertise and resources to contribute to lasting change.”

“Presenting our projects and impact through photos, stories and data is one thing, but allowing people to see the difference being made with their own eyes has even greater value,” added Stefano Cruccu, Founder of Sopowerful. “It was a pleasure to welcome the Innovo team to Malawi last autumn. We are grateful for the continued trust and support and very pleased to renew this partnership.”

The continuation of the partnership with Sopowerful is part of a structured social responsibility strategy and represents another step in iCube’s journey towards an energy model that not only accelerates the transition to renewable energy, but also contributes in a tangible way to improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable communities.
