ACEA enters the African water sector with the SAEP Djoué project
ACEA has won the tender for the SAEP Djoué project aimed at strengthening the water infrastructure of Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, in response to the growing demand for water in the city’s urban areas.
The contract, awarded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), goes to a consortium led by Acea Infrastructure.
ACEA: a strategic step into the African market
“The award of the SAEP Djoué project in Brazzaville marks an important milestone for our company: it confirms ACEA’s entry into the African continent,” said Fabrizio Palermo, Chief Executive Officer of ACEA.
“We are proud to be part of this project, made possible through synergy with national and international institutions. It is both a challenge and a commitment that strengthens our international leadership in the water sector and demonstrates the ability of Italian know-how to export an effective and efficient industrial model focused on sustainable development.”
The SAEP Djoué II project to strengthen Brazzaville’s water network
The initiative, aimed at providing drinking water to more than one million citizens, is part of a program promoted by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and developed in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The program, called PISTA (Investment and Technical Assistance Platform), supports the countries targeted by Italy’s environmental and energy cooperation through advanced engineering assistance.
The Mattei Plan framework for Italy–Africa cooperation
The project falls within the framework of the initiatives promoted by the Mattei Plan for Africa and is consistent with the strategic guidelines coordinated by the Mission Structure of the Mattei Plan Steering Committee at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
This contract represents an important assignment under the program to an Italian consortium, translating the Government’s strategic direction into concrete operational progress. For the implementation of the project, Acea has mobilized its technical, engineering, and economic-financial expertise, with particular focus on project governance, sustainability, and procurement strategy.
